Quick Step by Step Guide for Leica GS16 using CS20 Data Collector

Bob has develop this quick step  guide to help users power on GS16 with CS 20 Data Collector using Captivate software. It a step by step procedures to check communication between GS16 and DC.  Verify internet status and getting RTK corrections.

Leica GS16 GNSS Receiver & CS20​​ Data​​ Controller​​ with Captivate SW

Network RTK Rover -​​ Quick Setup Steps

  • Mount the GS16 GNSS Receiver to the RTK Pole,

  • Power​​ ON​​ the​​ GS16​​ GNSS Receiver,

  • The GS16 BT LED will be​​ GREEN,​​ (waiting for BT Connection),

  • The GS16 GNSS​​ Position​​ LED will be​​ solid​​ ORANGE​​ = Tracking SV’s with an Autonomous/Navigated position.

 

  • Power​​ ON​​ the​​ CS20 Data Controller, the Captivate software will start and initialize,

  • From the Captivate Job Carousel, select a Job, or create a New Job,​​ the current job is shown at the center of the Job Carousel.

 

  • On the CS20 Data Controller,​​ look at the BT, Bluetooth LED, it should be​​ solid​​ BLUE,

 

  • On​​ the GS16 GNSS Sensor, look at the​​ Bluetooth LED, it​​ should​​ be​​ solid​​ BLUE,​​ this indicates​​ the CS20 Data Controller and the GS16 GNSS receiver​​ have Bluetooth communications.

 

  • From the Captivate SW, Top Row Task Bar, look at the @​​ Symbol, if @ symbol is clear,​​ (no Orange Triangle with !),​​ the Network RTK Rover’s Cellular modem​​ is connected to the Internet,

 

  • From the Captivate SW, Top Row Task Bar, look at the​​ Position Status icon,​​ 

This Position Status icon indicates an Autonomous/Navigated Solution,​​ the Position Status LED on the GS16 GNSS Receiver will be solid​​ ORANGE.

 

  • From the Captivate SW, Top row Task Bar, Select/tap on the Cellphone icon,​​ then​​ Select​​ / tap “Start RTK Stream”,​​ the Network RTK Rover will connect to the Network Server/Mount Point;​​ wait a few seconds for the GS16 Network RTK​​ Rover to compute a RTK Fixed Solution…

 

 

  • From the Captivate SW, Top Row Task Bar, look at the​​ Position Status icon,​​ 

This Position Status icon indicates an RTK Float Solution,​​ The Position Status LED on the GS16 GNSS Receiver will be​​ blinking​​ GREEN.

 

 

 

  • From the Captivate SW, Top Row Task Bar, look at the​​ Position Status icon,​​ 

This Position Status icon indicates an​​ RTK Fix Solution,​​ The Position Status LED on the GS16 GNSS Receiver will be​​ solid​​ GREEN.

  • The Network RTK Rover now has a Fixed RTK Position, the User can start the​​ Measure Points, Stake Points, 3D Viewer APPS

 

  • At the conclusion of the Network RTK Rover Survey,​​ from the Captivate SW, Top Row Task Bar​​ select/tap the​​ Cellphone icon,​​ ​​ ,​​ Select​​ “Stop RTK Stream”,​​ 

the Network RTK Rover will disconnect from the Network Server/Mount Point;

this will Stop the Network RTK Corrections, the RTK Fix Solution will revert to a RTK Float, eventually deteriorating back to an Autonomous/Navigated Position.

 

  • Power OFF the​​ CS20 Data Controller,

 

  • Power OFF the​​ GS16 GNSS Receiver.
